Margaret (Midge) Lorena Patten, 80, passed away at home April 21st, after her fight from cancer. She was born August 10, 1942, in Seattle, WA. She was the daughter of Roy and Margarette (Schiffmann) Duncan.
Midge graduated from Franklin High School in 1960. Following graduation, she married her childhood sweetheart, Jimmie V. Patten, where they settled in South Seattle. April 14th, they celebrated 62 years of marriage. She had a passion for the outdoors and her and Jim spent much of their time hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping. Midge and Jim spent 15 years serving Marriage Encounter with the Episcopal church. Following Marriage Encounter, she became an active rules official with the Pacific Northwest Golf Association, the United States Golf Association and the NCAA Division One Woman’s Championship.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmie V. Patten, and three daughters: Cathy J. (Patten) and husband, Gary Hays, Teri L. (Patten) and husband, Doug Blyth, and Chris A. (Patten) and husband Mark Benz. Combined from her three daughters, Midge has eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Roy (Bud) Duncan and his wife, Jeanne Duncan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25 at the Lakeland Village Community Club, 470 E Country Club Dr., Allyn, WA. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to cancer research.
