Kenneth Wayne Griffith was born on July 16, 1938 on a farm outside of Cushing, Texas. On February 6, 2021 he left Spanaway, Washington to be with his Lord and Savior. Kenneth grew up on farmland in Texas and Arizona where he learned the value of hard work. The family moved to Soquel, California in his high school years but he always considered himself a Texan. Kenneth served his county in the United States Army for 23 years. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Group and then the 5th and 7th Special Forces (Green Berets). For action on one of his tours in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star with V for Valor. After retirement from active-duty Kenneth spent several years as an ironworker and ended his working life as a Pierce Transit driver. He was very proud of his military service, but his great joy was always his family. One wife of 57 years, three children, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and the children-in-love who married into the family all loved their Papa. He loved large noisy family gatherings at home, the ocean, or wherever he could get some or all of us together. Kenneth collected antique trains, grew gorgeous flowers and big tomatoes, bestowed nicknames on grandchildren, built cradles, hope chests, and rocking horses, and above all loved us dearly. We will miss him more than words can say and carry him in our hearts until we are together again.
