John Sawyer Obituary

John Lawrence Sawyer, age 40, passed away on Saturday July 16th in his home in Bonney Lake, Washington.  This came as an unexpected shock to his family, and they are dealing with the loss of a man that was so special to them.

He was born on November 2nd,1981 in Fayetteville, NC to his Mother Carolyn and his Father John “Rusty”.  John’s parents moved him and his beloved sister Allison to Washington when they were children, and John has built his life and many memories in the state he grew to call his home. John’s father later added to the family the love of his Stepmother Gabrielle and his two stepsisters Falon and Mallory. John also met his best friend Tony that he loved and cherished as his brother. All John’s family have been his support through all the years, and he was grateful for all their love through his life.

John leaves behind his wife Melody and 6 beautiful children that truly embody all the best parts of him. Julia, JD, and Emily from his first wife Amy. Janette from his second wife Stephanie. Winter and Johnny from his current wife Melody. With each of these unions brought an abundance of love and extended family that had continued to grow over the years. The spirit of John will live on in the memories he shared with everyone in his life.

John was known to his family, friends, and coworkers as Larry, John, Dad, Daddy, and honey. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. All his kids were his world and he worked so hard for his family. John gave his children and his dogs Leeloo and Slade all the love he had to give. He was funny, smart, and caring. He loved collecting guns, eating Korean food, working hard, and spending time with his dogs. He had wanted to start doing more fishing and traveling. Him and his wife had taken their first trip together to Hawaii a few years ago and it sparked a love for Hawaii that John later shared with his children. The entire family went on a memorable trip to Hawaii last year and plan to return soon to spread some of his ashes.

John attended Mt. Tahoma High school and was attending a program through his work to obtain his bachelor’s in business. He was a leader in the Trades and a man that was determined to be the best. He started from the bottom up and was working as an Area Manager for Sound Transit at the time of his passing. He loved his job and was where he wanted it to be.

John did not believe that family was limited to DNA. John had shown us this in the people he chose to love. He was not a traditional man and valued time over money. Honor John by truly loving yourself and continuing to love your family.
