Janis Smith Obituary

JANIS KAY SMITH, born of Irene and Robert Shawley, February 20, 1939, went to be with her Beautiful Savior Jesus and Heavenly Father on February 28, 2021 after a 6-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Burtt Russell Smith and is survived by her three sons, Greg, Roger, and Cory, and 11 grandchildren. Janis, known as “Kay” to her childhood friends, was born and raised in Spokane, WA. She and Russ lived there until retirement when they enjoyed a few years of full time RVing and snow-birding in AZ before settling in Deer Park, WA. Janis (Kay) was a dedicated wife and mother, talented and passionate quilter, active church member and passionate follower of Jesus Christ. Her ready smile, quick wit, serving and generous heart, and her love for all walks of people will be deeply missed, but we know she is now rejoicing forever in the presence of her Heavenly Father.
