George H Smith

George pass away peacefully on May 6, 2023. 

George was born January 6, 1941, in Tacoma, Washington to Charles and Eleanor Smith.

He married Sheryl Cooper in November of 1959, enjoying 55 years together.

George was a Veteran of the US Coast Guard, which allowed him to visit the four corners of the world, cross the seven seas, and crossing the Equator twice. He enjoyed traveling to new places and meeting new people. George and Sheryl enjoyed many miles of travel, both on land and sea, seeing everything from the tropics of the Caribbean to the icebergs and glaciers of Alaska.

George enjoyed working with his hands, building things or tinkering with some new project.

He enjoyed many years as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Midland Fire Department, departing at the level of Fire Captain. He also enjoyed giving back by volunteering at the Southeast Fish Food Bank where he made many friends. George was always there to give a helping hand to anyone in need. George was a longstanding member of the Studebaker Drivers Club. 

He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Werner, Nancy Stevenson, Peggy Pulaski (John), daughters Kimberly Farley (Kyle), Brenda Jones (Paul) and son Charles Smith (Angie); along with 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. With many close friends. 

Preceding him in death, parents Charles and Eleanor and his wife Sheryl.

A memorial service will be held at Weeks' Dryer Mortuary on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 1pm. No graveside services will be held. In lieu of flowers, send a donation to the charity of your choice.
