Frances M. Nelson, 83, of Port Orchard went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 29, 2023.
Fran was born to Donald and Eloise Cupps on January 2, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from South Kitsap High School, class of 1957. Fran married Dennis Nelson on June 6, 1959 in Bremerton, WA and had four sons, Dennis Jr (Elma) of Bremerton, WA, Brian (Colleen) of Avon, CT, Glen (Tracy) of Edmonds, WA and Eric (Elisabeth) of Superior, CO. She has six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Fran was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Donald Jr, Leonard, Clarence, Gary, Mary Louise and Patricia. She is survived by her husband and children, as well as siblings Josephine Breidenbach, Richard Cupps, Patrick Cupps, Mary Qualheim and Eloise Davis, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A lifelong church member and advocate for the unborn, Fran was co-founder and worked for fourteen years at Pregnancy Care Centers in Bremerton and Silverdale, as well as four years at Celebrate Life in Port Orchard. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed being involved in her children's activities, whether acting as a den mother or cheering loudly at her sons' sporting events.
A memorial service will be held April 22, 2023 at Christ the Rock Community Church, 4100 SW Old Clifton Rd, Port Orchard at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to a charity of your choice in her memory. Inurnment will occur at Tahoma National Cemetary at a future date.
