Felipe Romero, age 82, of Tacoma, Washington passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Madigan Army Medical Center. Felipe was born on April 4, 1938 in Manzano, New Mexico the eldest son of Felipe and Maria (Brito) Romero. He joined the United States Air Force at a young age helping support his family. During a tour in Korea he met his wife, Hye Ran, whom he was married to for over 60 years. He was Honorably discharged in 1977 after twenty years of active duty. His love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing led him to settle with his family in Tacoma after his military service ended. He continued working as a commercial truck driver for many years, driving across much of the country. His life is remembered for his hard work, selflessness, and dedication to family.
He is survived by his wife Hye Ran; children Kristeen, Mel, Cindy, Angel and Sony; grandchildren Lisa, Salina, Mel Jr, Joelle, Delisa, Mina, Delaney, and Alexis; and great grandchildren Madisyn, Taytum, Koa, Amelia and Lucy.
No services will be held per Felipe's wishes. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent with full Military Honors.
