Audrey J. Skrzyniarz passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 6, 2021 in Tacoma, Washington at 87 years old. Audrey was born in Leavenworth, Washington on August 13, 1934 to May M. Carrell (nee Pendleton) and Quincy Carrell, both from the Leavenworth/Peshastin area. Audrey lived in Wenatchee in her early childhood. The family moved to Parkland, Washington, where her parents built a house. She attended Clover Park High School in Lakewood, during which time she traveled throughout the Northwest with a USO choral group that entertained troops. She was married at Trinity Lutheran Church on December 7, 1952 to Joseph Skrzyniarz of New York City, an Air Force sergeant then stationed at McChord AFB in Tacoma. They had two children there, Kathy Jones and Sue Fake. In 1955 the family was transferred to Tachikawa AFB in Japan, where they had a son, Bill Skrzyniarz. Over the course of Joseph’s 20 years of service, Audrey lived in New Jersey, Washington State, Austin Texas, and Sumter, South Carolina. Her fourth child, Steven Skrzyniarz, was born while stationed at Shaw AFB, South Carolina. In 1972, Audrey and family returned to Parkland permanently where they bought their first house. Audrey graduated from Tacoma Community College in 1980 and Evergreen State College in 1982. Audrey had a beautiful operatic voice, played the piano, loved to read books, and had a deep passion for gardening and Labrador retrievers. She was a devoted mother. She is survived by her brothers Neil Carrell and Robert Carrell; her four children; and grandchildren Shawn Jones, Kyle Jones, Samantha Fake, Joshua Vikoren, Jacob Vikoren, and Larsen Sky Skrzyniarz.
