Andrew Craig Schoolmaster

Andrew Craig Schoolmaster did not drive to win any races, he just drove his prized 1970 Oldsmobile as fast as she would go.  The thrill of her gliding across pavement, the wind cutting through the open window, and the laughter of everyone in the car was sometimes all the joy he needed.  Andy lived an amazing life full of love, hilarity, and the occasional need for speed.  It started in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 6, 1965.  Charles and Joy Schoolmaster, along with older brothers Timothy and Charles, happily welcomed him into the family.  With his father in the Air Force, Andy traveled around as a child.  Eventually, he followed in his dad’s footsteps and served in the United States Air Force.  After the Air Force, when his family started to grow, he got a degree in heavy diesel mechanics, working hard (but sometimes hardly working) tinkering with things he loved.  Traveling and spending time with family instilled in him a great many loves.  Andy had a love for camping, riding three wheelers and quads, and family gatherings.  If there was a dog or two to pal around with it was all the better.  Aside from his family, his most prized treasures were his 1970 Oldsmobile and his 1986 Honda 250R 3-wheeler.  If it went fast, Andy had a fondness for it.  He and his dad often went to car shows, showing off the Oldsmobile, and taking in the sweet beauty of classic cars.  Competitive, stubborn, and always one to help someone out, Andy was a true friend and brilliant dad.  On March 15, 2021, his life was cut shorter than expected.  That did not stop Andy from spreading the love though.  His kidneys were donated and with his passing he was able to help save two lives.  In a way, he lives on.  Here’s to hoping that part of him gets to feel the thrill of the race again soon.  Andy was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Joy, and his brothers Timothy and Charles A. Schoolmaster.  He is celebrated and continuously loved by his children Amanda, Joey, Kati, and Josh; the children of his heart he was able to include as family over the years; and his 18 incredible grandchildren that he loved fully every day they shared together.  Each life he filled with love with miss him immensely.  In recognition of his service to our country, Andy will be privately interred at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Oregon.
