Milaine (Marsh) McKay

Milaine was born on July 30th, 1935 in Tacoma, WA to Lyman and Ida Marsh. Milaine went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 18th at the age of 83 with her husband by her side. She was born and raised in Tacoma; grew up playing the piano, violin, and singing. She graduated from Stadium High School class of 1953 and graduated from Pacific Lutheran University class of 1957. Milaine married John Patrick McKay in 1958, and had her only child, Shanna, in 1963. Milaine started her teaching career at Franklin Pierce High School, and went on to teach at Ford Jr. High, Washington High School, and Gates Alternative High School. She retired in 2000 after a 40-year career with FP Schools, teaching business education. Throughout her life she sang in PLC’s Choir of the West, played in the orchestra, and sang for Sweet Adelines. Milaine was a lifelong Christian and became certified as a minister later in life. Her passions included music, animals, especially dogs, and helping others through Christ, but her biggest passion was teaching and making a difference in her students’ lives. Milaine is preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Ida Marsh. Survived by her husband, J. Patrick McKay, daughter, Shanna (Mike) Brault, grandchildren, Michelle, Rachel, and Patrick Brault, and her adopted daughter, Lisa Conklin, and her children, Kayla, Thomas, and Raymond Conklin. Her memorial service will be held Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at Weeks’ Dryer Mortuary in Parkland at 11am.
