Hanna Margarete Tattersall was born in Zurich, Switzerland, on February 5, 1931, to Joseph and Frieda Sendelbach. She passed away on January 22, 2019 at the age of 87. Her life began in Winterhausen, Germany where she was raised by her grandparents. She spent the depression era on land that provided food for the belly and food for barter. When she was a teenager she rejoined her mother, father, and siblings in Hanau, Germany. She was part of the resistance during World War II helping the American soldiers where possible. She ran from aerial gun fire and stood up to soldiers who dared enter her house to pillage or destroy. She was always a force to be reckoned with. In 1951 she met a handsome young American soldier named George Tattersall. The two married in 1957 and their adventure began. Life as a military wife helped satisfy the need for both her and George’s urge “to see what was over the next hill”. When the last duty station brought them to Ft Lewis, they purchased a house and remained in Tacoma for nearly 50 years. Hanna’s strong faith kept her going through the lean years, the times she spent raising children alone while George was away on the many maneuvers required of a soldier, and the time he spent in Vietnam. It gave her the strength to go on after George passed away in 2006. She leaves behind five daughters Liz (Jon Christy) Tattersall, Dolores Orchard, Barbara Rinker, Andrea (Benny Lovelle) Cramblit, and Tanya Wendleton; her beautiful grandchildren Kristina, Sabrina, Sonja, Rebecca, Ivan, Michael, and Khrysten; and eight wonderful great-grandchildren.
Please join us to celebration of her life at Weeks Dryer Mortuary on February 9, 2019 at 10:00 with fellowship to follow at 11:00.
She will later be laid to rest with her husband, George, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
