Dorsey Earl Isom, surrounded by those who loved him, passed away Friday October 26, 2018 at his home in Alder. He was 86 years old. On August 29, 1932 he was born in Yelm, Washington to the late Lester and Marsha Hayes Isom. Dorsey married Janice Munter in Yelm on April 28, 1950. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He held several jobs that he loved. His working life included a three-year term with the forest service as a forest fire lookout and logging for various companies holding positions as yarder engineer and mechanic. After retirement he spent time cutting and selling wood. He always wanted to work with his hands. Dorsey came to Christ which created profound changes in his life and became a testimony to others as to the power of the Lord. He was a member of the Alder Presbyterian Church in Eatonville. Those who continue to love him are his beloved wife of 68 years, Janis of Alder, WA; his children Grant (Pam) Isom of Rainier, WA, Dennis (Teri) Isom of Republic, WA, Paula Welsh of Alder, WA; Christine McCurdy of Morton, WA, Cheryl Matthiesen of Eatonville, WA, Lehi (Soua) Isom of Alder, WA, and James Isom of Largo, FL; brother William (April) Isom of Tenino, WA; thirty beautiful grandchildren; fifty beloved great-grandchildren; and two joyous great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first-born son, John Lester Isom. Friends are invited to attend memorial services for Dorsey on Saturday November 3, 2018 at 2:00pm at Alder Presbyterian Church, located at 50109 School Road in Eatonville, WA. Remembrances may be made to the church. Services entrusted to Weeks' Dryer Mortuary, Tacoma, WA.
