Loyd Willaford Obituary

Loyd “Jim” Willaford was born in Sedan, Kansas on February 9, 1949.  His family moved to Enumclaw,  Washington in 1955.  He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1967 and served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam.  As a young man, he was active in rodeo events, particularly bareback bronc riding.  From the 1970s through the 2000s, he was a horseshoer and raised and ran thoroughbred racehorses at tracks throughout the Northwest.  For many years, he lived in Eastern Washington. Loyd was a union ironworker in Local 86 for 30 years.  He worked on various construction projects throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.  Later in life, he lived in Roy, Washington on his sister Geneva’s farm, where he enjoyed helping with the animals. He enjoyed traveling with his brother and sisters and his wife Raquel to various Northwest casinos.  Loyd passed away on March 20, 2024 in Puyallup, Washington from complications of Lewy body dementia .  He is survived by his wife (Raquel), a son (Loyd), a daughter (Leana), a brother (Bill), two sisters (Charlotte and Geneva), and nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
