 Recognizing that the time following a funeral can be a very difficult time of adjustment and change, Weeks' Funeral Homes provides a comprehensive follow-up program for the families we serve. This includes:
- Information about adult grief as well as children's grief
- Funeral directors who meet with children to answer questions
- A list of helpful community resources
- An annotated list of books on loss and grief issues
- Opportunities to participate in professionally facilitated grief support groups
- Individual grief counseling with a therapist who has an advanced certification in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement
- Informational seminar: "Handling the Holidays"
- Support during potentially difficult times, such as the anniversary of the death, birthdays of deceased children and wedding anniversaries
- A special Christmas Memorial Service
- A library of books on loss and grief
Catherine Johnson, the Bereavement Services Coordinator, is also available to make presentations to church or community groups or to train professionals on such topics as: Understanding Grief and Helping the Bereaved, Complicated Mourning, Grief in the Workplace, Children and Grief, and Parental Grief.
